Subject: Just-Do-It Archive Research
Hello,

I am a film archive researcher currently working on the documentary Just-Do-It. We are looking for footage of COP15 and we are particularly interested using this video.

Here is a quick rundown of the documentary;

Just Do It is a feature length documentary project initiated and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Emily James (Director - The Luckiest Nut in the World, Executive Producer – The Age of Stupid)

In spring 2009, Emily submerged herself in documenting the secret activities of environmental direct action activists in the UK. The result is a behind the scenes portrait of a community of actively engaged citizens who aren’t prepared to sit back and allow the destruction of the worlds ecosystems and climate. The individuals in the film have picked up the mantle of civil disobedience and direct action - chaining themselves to Parliament, super-gluing themselves to bank trading floors, and attacking coal power stations en-mass. They provide a strong critique of the root causes of climate change, and the relationship between excessive consumerism, ramped capitalism, and environmental degradation.

The overall goal of Just Do It is to help create a culture shift towards a new generation of active citizens by inspiring those that feel powerless. It is a call to action that urges us not to wait for others to act on our behalf, but to intervene when we see injustice, to take action against all odds and to take the future into our own hands.

---

We are aiming to release the film in Spring 2011 and we have a wide distribution plan including theatrical, DVD, online, community screenings and workshops and hopefully TV too. To ensure as many people as possible see the film it will be at some stage available online for free download as part of a creative commons release but the permission needs to also cover commercial usage such as on TV, on i-tunes etc.

We are a not for profit project. We have raised all our funds independently and still have a lot more to raise. Any money we raise from distribution and sales will go towards the costs of making the film and towards further distribution. It is our aim to get the film seen as widely as possible and spreading the message of the film rather than making money.

Due to the grassroots nature of the project, Emily is eager to get in touch with the original filmmakers to ask permission.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Andy Robson
